Day 177

So tired so gonna make this quick...

I have no idea what the things that i did are called,  so for all intents and purposes I'm gonna call then kick backs and side leg lifts. Whatever you call  them, i did 3 sets of 10 each.

Day 129

Man I am so tired, I fell asleep downstairs on the couch like an hour ago. I woke up came upstairs and got dressed for bed and I did 3 sets of 15 squat touches. I call them squat touches because I get into a sumo squat position and then I squat down and touch the floor with my hand and then I get back up completely and then I squat back down and touch the floor again. Squat touches.

Wel, I am gonna do my measurements tomorrow like I said last week. I will be very surprised if there's any positive change this month. I didn't do very well with my diet and I definitely need to get back on track with that. I definitely need to get back on track with exercising in the morning as well. That seems to set me up for a better day and tends to keep me motivated throughout the day as I continue to exercise. I don't know why I can't stick to that. It seems like a foolproof plan!

Day 115

Today I worked and it was a much better day than yesterday even though I didn't get enough sleep. I had so much anxiety that I was up between 3am and 5am, and when I finally fell asleep my alarm went off to go to work.

So tired. ..

Anyway, I did a ton of shoulder shrugs,  like 10 sets of 10 (need to increase resistance) and 4 sets of 10 front deltoid extensions.

Offto bed.

Day 49

Last night was awful. Little Brother was up every 2 hours throwing up until 7am. I'm so tired but got on the elliptical for 43 mins and watched another episode of Pretty Little Liars.

I dug my trusty heart rate monitor up and wore it tonight for kicks n giggles. Totally different info than what my elliptical AND Fitbit gives me. Really disappointing. Totally figures. Recording data for now until I know what to do with the numbers (gotta dig out my old books with the equations).

Good night.

Day 45

I just got off of the elliptical for 43 minutes (a full episode on netflix).I'm so tired but proud of myself for doing this on a work day. My motivation was knowing tomorrow is a holiday so I don't have to take the kids to school and can sleep in if my body let's me.

Off to bed.

Day 41

I just saw that day 39 was a draft and never posted... Oh well.

I just finished 30 mins on the elliptical. I'm having a really hard time waking up in the morning and I'm exhausted through the day. Idk why (there are some reasons but they have never hindered me before). I know these late night exercise sessions probably don't help.  Anyway,  I wish I would just wake up early and get exercise over with. I guess one day at a time? And maybe a more obnoxious alarm tone? lol.

Day 38

Today was a work day and I fit home an hour later than I normally do,  but I was still able to find the motivation to get on the elliptical for 30 mins.  I found it in the strangest thing! A plug that I never noticed before and the cord to my phone charger lol.

When I got upstairs to get ready for bed my phone was almost dead. I use my phone on the elliptical bc I watch Netflix on it and track with runkeeper. I can't do this if my phone is dead, which usually results in me finding something else to do,  not as active. Anyway that's where the plug/cord comes into play and the rest is history.  Charged my phone, watched netflix, tracked my stuff. Yaay. Gonna get up early to do this again in the morning.

Good night!

Day 32

I'm about to post day 33 and I'm just now noticing that i never published this last night grrrr...

Oh my gosh last night was awful I didn't get to sleep until probably after midnight which means that I got less than my normal 7 to 8 hours in which I was a little baby today. My 4 year old woke up and it was so hard to get him back down to sleep I was cranky all day.

I did my measurements and weigh in but I forgot to save them so I lost all my data.

I did 30 minutes on the elliptical trainer tonight and I'll try the measurements again tomorrow morning. I do remember that I lost 5.5 pounds though. Yaay!

Day 17

I feel like I'm starting to get sick again. I'm feeling worse today than I have in a couple days and I'm wondering if I'm trying to do to much, like it'd stress related. Maybe it's allergies again. IDK

Anyway I worked on biceps.  Three sets of 10. I'm tired so headed to bed.  I need to start trying harder.Maybe I don't have God in this as much as I should. Definitely can't di this by myself. New day tomorrow.

One day at a time. One choice at a time.

Day 4

I had a really hard time trying to wake up early this morning bc I went to bed much later than I normally do, so today is gonna  be short and sweet.

30 mins on the elliptical again and I did alright with my food.  Stuck with my protein and plan for the most part. I went over my caloric intake goal though (i don't think I drank enough water so I felt a little hungry at the end of the day.  My 4 year old fed me a few chips also. He doesn't understand. All good. There are worse things in this game to worry about. Could have made some better choices but there is always tomorrow.

One day at a time, one choice at a time.

Day 3 Commit

Today was a typical workday for me.  I am a telemetry tech so I'm locked away in a centralized telemetry room for 12 hours in a hospital monitoring between 32-60 cardiac patients. In a nutshell, I sit all day watching up to 4 monitors with 16 patient on each and don't get to get away much (pretty much just bathroom breaks and my 30 minute lunch). I pack my food usually and put it in an igloo backpack (like a cooler) and eat all day long, but sometimes I allow myself to get something from the cafeteria. I mentioned yesterday that I made my food for today and that was very helpful to keeping me out of the cafeteria.

I decided with this 2016 challenge, it would not be safe to allow myself to eat from work,  as I cannot "count" what I get from the cafeteria and I feel like doing that just sets me up for failure anyway.  I don't plan to eat anything I cannot "count" and I feel pretty confident with this goal as I've done this a lot in the past years with success.

I feel like I am mentally preparing myself for this long haul and I see myself combining small goals with previous small successes, to get a good start.

That being said,  I really didn't want to get on the elliptical tonight. It was a long and mentally draining day and I just didn't want to do it. Everything seemed to set me up for failure--my fitbit broke, couldn't find my slippers for the elliptical (the footing has this strange speedbump tread that hurts my feet without wearing shoes) and it just kept getting later and later discouraging me even more. I eventually found my slippers and hopped on. Only twenty minutes tonight, but it's definitely better than 0 minutes.
Small steps...

When thinking about my goals for this coming year, God always comes to mind. I know I cannot be successful without His strength and involvement and I felt this scripture was perfect.

Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans. Proverbs 16:3

No other words can be more perfect for the place that I am in right now.

Off to bed so I can get up early to exercise before the chaos begins.

Day 26

Today was an exhausting day at work. The day just couldn't end soon enough for me.

My goal for exercise today was to get in 10,000 steps. For those of you that don't know, I changed jobs last year. I am not working on the floor as a CNA anymore but now as a Monitor Tech/Unit Secretary for the same department I was working for (I'm forced to stay at my desk unless I can find someone to cover me). I stare at heart rhythmns all day looking for changes (I work on a critical care unit) and entering doctor's orders on the computer.

As a CNA I was on my feet for a minimum of 10 hours and on an average day walked 14k-16k (6.6-7.5 miles) steps. The job I have now is pretty sedentary. I sit for the majority of the day, so getting in 10k steps on a work day seemed like a good challenge to me. It sure was!

I didn't quite make 10k steps, but I got close. 9322 steps (4.41 miles). Not bad for sitting on my butt all day at work. I did walk a lot more today than I usually do. I wore my pedometer to work last week and barely hit 3200 steps. Not bad at all :).

I'm ready to go to bed. I'll be up and ready to do EA Sports Active first thing in the am.

Have a good night!

Day 15 (I really must stop cheating. like. forreally.)

I'm so...tired. Must...sleep. Must stop cheating... :(

I almost fell asleep exercising. I waited too late to start. I did the EA Sports Active 2 for 17 minutes--I was really impatient tonight...just wanted it to be over and done w/ so I can be 1 step closer to my bed--and burned a whopping 83 calories! wow. How impressive is that?

This morning I weighed in the same as yesterday, but lost inches I think on my hips and somewhere else (wanna say my leg??). I forget where off hand, and am too tired/lazy to go find my phone to get those numbers. I'm sure it's dead where ever it is. I'll just update w/ tomorrow's blog in the morning (yes, I am committing myself to exercise early, before I do anything else).

Good night! DLTBBB!

off to a good start...

Today is my first day off this week and I'm off to a good start.

I got up, ate some yogurt and turned on The Biggest Loser Workout on the Wii. I started a 4 week program and am attempting to lose 13 lbs (I think that's what it set my goal for). If I can do that, then I will be where I was at the end of 2009, when I completed my 365 consecutive days of exercise.

My arms are wobbly--today was upper body day (upper body - light 24 minutes/65 calories burned).

then I did a cool down (light - 8 minutes/8 calories).

The last 3 days I worked, but only the first 2 were normal workdays. Monday I walked 15,943 steps (7.55 miles) during my workday, and Tuesday 13,300 steps (6.30 miles). Wednesday/yesterday, not so many...4,507 steps (2.13 miles). The reason for the lack of steps is a pretty good reason though. They are finally putting my heart rhythm reading skills to work! They are training me to be a Monitor Tech/Health Unit Secretary! Finally! I was super nervous, but my preceptor told the director that I am doing "freakin' awesome" and from what the director says, she doesn't say that, and she has trained a lot of people. What a blessing, and confidence booster!! My preceptor said that if I continue the next 4 days of training, like I did yesterday, she is going to push the director to hire me as the new, muchly needed, full time, day shift, Monitor Tech/HUC. Woo Hoo!!!!!! It's patient care, behind the scenes, with a little bit earlier schedule, but something that I LOVE doing :). I like being a CNA, but overtime is a turn off because I am so exhausted after my 3 day stretch working 12 hours each day. Overtime doing this is VERY doable. I wouldn't mind one bit.

The downside of this new job (in my eyes) is the lack of steps. Maybe it might be a good thing though, because since I started working, I haven't been able to get a grasp on the actual number of calories I have been burning (calories burned using METs, vs calories burned on my HRM--which is a HUGE difference) and I haven't had the energy to exercise on my day's off, like I had envisioned when I was a SAHM. Because I don't know how many calories I am exactly burning, I can't do the math correctly to know how much to eat, to lose weight. I feel like I haven't been eating enough, which is probably why I am so exhausted. Yesterday I was not so physically exhausted when I got home either. I felt great. We'll see, and I'll just pray on it. God answers prayers. Maybe this is a God thing, because after all, in order to do what I am training to do now, and might possibly be doing in the future, you have to have a minimum of 1 year of experience doing it already (which the director is very adamant about), because PCU is a critical care unit (a step down from ICU).

Anyway, that's what I have been up to. I plan to be back tomorrow. I have been lurking the blog circuit and reading your blogs, but I've just been silent.

See you tomorrow!

Day 340 (day 4 / week 48)

Today was another workday, but I called in sick again. I feel worse today than I did yesterday. I forced myself to go to the grocery store and pick up some basics and a few Christmas presents (Blu-rays at Walmart), and I forced myself to do something on the Wii Fit--get up and exercise.

There is a whole strength training section on the Wii Fit so I focused on that today, as well balance (my balance is WAY off) and yoga for relaxation. I did 42 Wii Minutes total and walked 3474 steps at the grocery store (1.64 miles). It poured today. I love the rain when I'm not sick lol.

I feel super crappy but am going to attempt to go to work tomorrow. I hope it doesn't bite me in the butt. I have stuff to help w/ my symptoms so hopefully I won't feel this way tomorrow. At least I'm off the next day so I can focus on getting better again w/out having to worry about work. The monkey boy is feeling better so that makes me feel hopeful too (his didn't last long so mine might not either :)).

Have a great night!

I can do this. I am a star.

Day 315 (day 7 / week 44)

I just realized that I forgot to post about Tuesday, 11/9. That means that Tuesday was Day 313, and yesterday was day 314 (today is 315 but I'll post about that later). It's all screwy but whatever. They are consecutive so I am not going to fuss about what day is what number (technically this post is for day 313, not 314).

Tuesday was a workday. I had written down a number from my pedometer yesterday, before I put it on to go to class, and today I couldn't remember for the life of me why. I had that feeling like I was forgetting to do something, and I didn't throw that piece of paper out for a reason. lol. It was the number of steps I took on Tuesday at work. The number was 11920 (5.64 miles). Sweet. Thank goodness that I don't have a desk job because if I did, I would have not succeeded with this challenge...well I would probably have an hour for lunch if I had a desk job so I would have tried to make something work, but it's just such a blessing that I am forced to exercise on the days that I do work. I exercise whether I want to or not!

I honestly don't remember much about Tuesday except for that it was a workday and I didn't get home until after 9pm (was a LONG day). After I got home, I had to pound out some strips and study ventricle rhythms, bundle branch blocks and pacemaker rhythms for my exam the next day, which I already posted about--see the days are all screwy and bouncing around now. I was stressin' because I only had 1 day to review something that I had previously had a week to do. Then went straight to bed.

Anyway that's it. This is for Tuesday's post. Did my same 'ol work thing.

Day 300 (day 6 / week 42)

Today at work was busy. Busy, busy, busy. Just how busy, you ask? Busy. 16,007 steps busy. That's like almost 8 miles of walking busy.

I got off an hour late too. *grumble*

I didn't get to do any homework today either, because I was so busy, so I get to stay up late tonight, and wake up early tomorrow to get close to 50 strips (EKG strips) analyzed. By 7am (more like 6:30 so I can get dressed and all that fun stuff), because I have class at 8am. It takes me 5 minutes to analyze a typical strip. That's a long time. That sucks but...

I can do this. I am a star!

G'n & DLTBBB :) (sorry I am not typing so much, my brain hurts and I'm tired). *yawn*

Day 293 (day 6 / week 41)

Today I am very tired. I am glad it's my last day to work this week. I will hopefully catch up on some reading, to get the details that I missed for my class.

Today I worked and did my stairs. I also wore my pedometer again. It reset itself again, and I even put it on my shoe so that I wouldn't accidentally press the button and reset it. I was worried that putting it on my shoe might make it bounce too much and give it a false reading (2 steps instead of 1) but after testing it out, it worked fine. The number I got was 11910 steps, but it was reset after 10 am, so it's more than that. I don't know what the number was before that but I looked down and saw it was at around 100. Oh well, but I think it's pretty cool at the same time. I think 10K steps is 5 miles, so I am walking more than that when I am working.

Tomorrow I was set to study for my class on Thursday, but now I need to find a vet. My puppy Pebbles, has a hernia. She was spayed a few weeks ago and the incision healed, but the night before last, I noticed that she had a protrusion where her scar is. It doesn't bother her and isn't bleeding, warm, infected or anything. I just want to have someone check it out to be sure. I hope if we have to have it fixed that it isn't expensive. We love Pebbles and just want her to be safe, although it doesn't seem to affect her at all.

Anyway off to bed.

Have a great night!

DLTBBB! (don't let the bed bugs bite, for those that didn't catch it the first time around *wink*)

Day 291 (day 4 / week 41)

I am exhausted. I have to get in the shower and get ready for bed in the next 12 minutes.

I brought my pedometer to work today but it reset itself at some point, and it shuts off, and doesn't count the steps, when it's off (I tested it). What I was left with was 976. I'll try again tomorrow.

I also took the stairs like I always do. I am still finding myself winded by the time I get up to the 5th floor, but I am able to make it up much faster than before. I think that's awesome because I am seeing some sort of progress.

Tomorrow is another work day.

See you tomorrow! Hope you had a great day and have a good one tomorrow. Make it count!

Day 286 (day 6 / week 40)

Today is my last day on this week. It was a busy one. I got home after 9pm because we had an hour long meeting after work. I have to go back to work again on Friday for ANOTHER quick meeting. What a waste of a day off.

Today I did my usual stuff, stairs, not many transfers but it was a busy day. I am curious to see how many miles I walk during my shift.

I forgot my pedometer, which I remembered this morning when I typed Day 285 up, but forgot almost immediately after I left the computer. lol. Typical morning before work.

There were also more sweet lovelies in the meeting that I can't eat. They were trying to force them on me, but I stood my ground. Man it was hard, but much easier than it was a few days ago.

Anyway I'm tired. Off to bed. Hope you guys had a great day!

Make it count!
