Day 188 + 189

Gonna make it quick, it's waaay passed my bedtime.

Yesterday i did tricep extensions. Tonight i got onto the elliptical for 10 minutes. Definitely losing motivation and trying to think of what i can do to switch things up.

Day 155

I got onto the elliptical first thing this morning, but only for 10 minutes. I had big dreams to get on again after the grocery store, but didn't get a chance. Summer break kinda stinks. Both boys are driving me bonkers. I bought them water balloons and filled up like 30 for them. That just turned into a bad idea (learning experience lol) and they just played in the back yard with me there to keep them out of trouble.

It was 106F today and it's supposed to be a lot hotter this weekend (like 110+F).Thank goodness I'll be in a freezing cold "sterile" environment...although have I mentioned how much I hate that place??? Don't want to go but I guess mental abuse is better than heat stroke????

Oye.

Day 56

I woke up so late today that I need to reevaluate my late night exercise sessions. We were so late that my son was over 30 minutes late for school (we usually get there 30 mins early).

I have to start getting up early to exercise again. I feel better now so that can't be an excuse. Better choices.

Tonight I only did 10 mins so I don't stay up too late. Gotta get up early.

Day 54

I still don't feel well. I have no appetite and my stomach hurts. We sent the kids to bed early for fighting (best decision ever!) So I get to go to bed early too.

I forced myself on the elliptical tonight and was only able to do 10 mins. Better than nothing. I really hope I wake up better!

Day 12

Today was the first day where I felt like my energy washroom completely drained. I didn't do my elliptical again as my cough is still pretty bad, but I'm going to make it my goal to get on tomorrow. I'm definitely feeling better,  just not 100%.

For the past few days I have been working on strength training.  As I lay here typing this out, my legs, arms and shoulders are quivering. It's not pain,  just that tightness you get when you know you're working your muscles (sore but not painful like a pulled muscle). It's a great feeling. One of my favs!

Tonight I did legs and shoulders. I did static lunges and reverse lunges, both which I hate. My knees creaked the entire time despite special attention to my knee:toe placement (I should probably start taking glucosamine again). I did 10 reps of only 2 sets each, but I'm sure I'll feel it tomorrow.

I did shoulder shrugs with 8 lbs, 3 sets of 10, RPE at about 6-7 by the second set. Love it!

I also did some bent arm dumbell deltoid abductions. Three sets of 10 also with 8 lbs, RPE was at about a 6.

I'm tired so I'm gonna go to bed.

Day 11

Today I'm FINALLY starting to feel better. IDK if it's bc I finally found the right med combo,  or if I'm actually getting better.  Regardless, I decided to continue with the weights.  Once upon a time I used to be a gym rat, although you'd never know looking at me know. I love Love LOVE strength training (funny side note: my phone just tried to autocorrect "strength training" with "eyebrows" lol). I used to journal extensively what I did and would come up with different plans based off of a combo of my "data" and results.

Anyway, tonight was deja vu I guess.

I worked my chest and triceps (alternating) for 10 mins.

3 sets of 10 lying dumbell triceps extensions with 8 lbs (RPE 6-7)

3 sets of lying dumbell chest fly/press (combo move) with 8 lbs (RPE 5-6)

Whew! My arms are kickin'!

Day 8

Still feeling under the weather.  I spent most of the day snuggled under a blanket with my 4 year old (blame l so not feeling well) watching Paw Patrol.

I woke up early enough this morning to exercise but I had to make my other sons birthday invitations to get out by today (his birthday party is next Sat). That took me longer than I expected so I wasn't able to exercise.

I did muster up enough strength right before bed to get on the elliptical. Wasn't long, only 10 minutes, but not bad for how weak and yucky I feel. Hope this goes away soon!

Day 351 (day 1 / week 50)

Holy cow ravioli. I was sore this morning. My feet, ankles, hips, legs, even my arms were a little sore from yesterdays walk.

Today I decided to take it easy. I walked a very slow mile (30 minutes) and did strength training. I did 3 sets of 15 overhead triceps extensions (5lb weights) and 3 sets of 15 Single Arm Front Raises with 5lb dumbbells too (it took about 10 minutes total).

One of the things I want to focus on next year is listening to my body more w/ strength training. I know that if I can do so many reps w/ a selected weight, and by the end of the set, I am not feeling a little tired or muscle fatigue, then I am not lifting enough weight. Today I did. It was only 5lbs, but I can feel my arms and chest muscles jiggling. Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas! (jiggling arms instead of a jiggling belly lol).

See you in the morning!

I can do this. I am a star.

Day 185 (day 3 / week 27)

I had big hopes for today's workout, but I just couldn't do it all. I decided to stop before I started hating it, cause I have to come back and do it again tomorrow.

The plan:
The Firm, Cardio Sculpt w/ Fanny Lifter (60 mins)
The Firm, Body Sculpt w/ Fanny Lifter (45 mins)

What I actually did:
The Firm, Cardio Sculpt w/ Fanny Lifter, 60 minutes, 504 calories burned
The Firm, Body Sculpt w/ Fanny Lifter, 10 minutes, 79 calories burned (lol).

I wanted to do the extra minutes for my official state team on Sparkpeople (Nevada). We realized that we only rank 38/50 in Spark America minutes (all of the minutes/exercise we put into sparkpeople goes into "Spark America minutes"). I think I am already doing a lot of cardio per day--heck, per week, so I am not going to give myself a hard time about it. I wanted to do more today, because I only did 40 minutes yesterday, instead of what I originally planned on.

All good. :)

Off to take a shower and eat something. Hope you have a great 4th of July, if you are from the US. If you're not, I hope you have a great weekend and get pleanty of rest! (I always talk about "go, go, go" but rest is just as important :)).

See you tomorrow ;)

day 139 (day 6 / week 20)

I am so proud of myself! I woke up at 6am and had eaten some yogurt, drank some water, gotten dressed and was ready to go jogging by 6:30, so that I could make sure that I was home before my hubby left for work at 7:15.

I stretched outside a little bit and left my driveway at 6:46am. I jogged for 1 minute, and walked for 1 minute, keeping my heart rate between 150-160 (walking) and 160-170 (jogging). I stepped foot back into my driveway at 7:16am, so I did 2-15 minute miles!

I tried to be mindful of my form, although I still haven't been able to get my grubby hands on a ChiRunning video yet. I've just seen some snip-its from youtube, but it's hard I think without someone helping me. I'll get it down soon enough. When I felt like I wasn't pain free, I would stop and just walk--luckily enough, I felt good today! There weren't any barking ants following me this time either, or the last time I jogged, but lemme tell ya, they were everywhere the first day though...(lol).

When I got home I stretched really well. I put on my 15 minute stretching video, Slim & Limber (Slim in 6) and it felt GREAT. After I stretched I grabbed my hand weights and did 2 sets of 2o arm curls, 2 set of 20 over head press, and 2 set of 20 one-arm dumbbell rows (back/shoulder and bicep day) with my 5# hand weights.

It feels like a real sense of accomplishment to try to do this. Knowing that someday in the next few months, I will be able to run this whole thing, really motivates me! Heck, 5 months ago I couldn't do a jumping jack or jog in place. Today I jogged for at least 15 minutes--outside, in public, no less!

My MIL really blessed me by buying me these shoes for mother's day also. They have really helped me to step up to the next fitness level. They are actual Nike Running shoes (Nike Run) so they are made for what I'm doing (I would love to go get fitted for some running shoes someday, but we just can't afford it right now), AND they cute on top of it--black and silver with a pink logo :).

Anyway enough of that. Gotta go jump in the shower and start the day!

Hope you all have a great one! Make it count!

I can do this. I am a star!

day 127 (day 1 / week 19)

I just wanted to start off this blog entry by saying if anyone out there has a sparkpeople.com account, and you would like to add me as a friend, please feel free to do so! My username is:

heynowbnice
(hey now b nice -- without the spaces :))

I didn't know until recently that you couldn't have spark-buddies until you had a profile. If you had searched for me before, it would have said that I didn't exist on sparkpeople lol. I finally have a profile now (after like 4 months lol), so now I can have spark buddies! I find the site and all of the people that I have met on it, to be extremely motivational and inspiring. We are all in this together, and that rocks!

Anyway, this morning we were woken up pretty early by ghetto birds circling just above the house, and it ended up being a horrible car accident not far from our back yard. A police officer died and the driver in the other vehicle is in the hospital (please take a moment to pray for all people affected by this accident). I have been up for a while, so I did my thing, as usual. It's surreal because it's really quiet right now--they closed off Flamingo where this happened (a larger vein in Vegas just on the other side of our backyard wall)--it's usually buzzing with traffic, but now all we hear are helicopters.

I did Turbo Jam's 20 minute workout and Ab Jam. I decided that when I do this combo, I am going to count it as 30 mins cardio and 10 mins ab work, because Ab Jam is 10 minutes standing ab work (low intensity cardio) and then 10 minutes floor ab work.

I hope everyone has a great day! Count your blessings--we never know what's around the bend (or beyond the fence). Make today count whatever you do!

I can do this. I am a star.

day 96 (day 5 / week 14)

Monday 4/6/06

My hubby is talking about getting internet service so I am so excited! Hopefully we will have it soon. Getting to the parking lot across the street, is a huge pain, so I am just typing this like a journal entry and then will copy/paste it to my dashboard publisher thing.

Today I did 10 minutes of Ab Jam (the floor portion) and we did a lot of walking, that I am not going to include (I forgot to clock it so I don't know how long we were out for--oh well).

I hope everyone is having a good time and a great workout!

*fingers crossed* about getting internet soon!

I can do this. I am a star.

day 94 (day 3 / week 14)

Saturday 4/4/09

Today I went for a walk for about an hour and did the floor portion of Ab Jam (Turbo Jam). Man! I could feel stomach muscles that I haven't felt in a LONG time. It felt good and I am sure that my abs will be sore tomorrow (good sore of course) :).

I hope everyone is having a good weekend and has had great workouts! I know you are there with me, I am just sorry that I haven't been able to catch up on blogs and read about your experiences. I will be able to once we have an internet connection...whenever that is. Despite what you might think, parking lot blogging is not much fun at all, lol, especially with a toddler in the back seat...bless his little spongebob loving heart lol. I updated my blog from april 1st (day 90) and added my measurements if you want to scroll down and see what those are. I lost a total of 12.75" and 6.2 lbs in March! Yaay!

day 91 (day 7 / week 13)

Wednesday 4/1/08

Today is the first and my hubby surprised me this morning by having our extra room cleared out so that I could make it my exercise room.

I set up my "Love Handler" that my hubby bought for me over a year ago, and did that today for about 10 minutes. It works your mid section and is pretty fun :).

I have a picture of me for April 1st, but I forgot my measurements at home. I will update them here later.

I weighed 203.6! yaay! I am really happy to see the numbers drop.

When I have more time I will come back and edit this post to have the rest of the before/after pictures, and measurements. You can click on the label "Measurements" to see my other pictures, to compare the before an after, until I update this.

UPDATE (typed on 4/4/09)

These are my measurements from April 1st as promised. It has been 4 days since I took them, and I haven't been able to compare last month's measurements until now so it was pretty exciting to see the differences. Usually I have them sitting in front of me when I do them, but I don't have the internet access at home to pull up the page to immediately compare. Yaay!

Measurements: (day 90 / day 60 / day 30 / day 10) (- "/# lost in current month)

L wrist: 6" / 6" /6.25" (-0.0") (total lost -0.25")

In March I lost 6.2 lbs! It's about time! lol I have lost a total of 11.4 lbs since January and I can't complain, especially since the inches are melting off :). What a blessing!!!

In March I lost 12.75" over my entire body combined for a grand total of 40.25" overall throughout my body since January.

This really wants to make me cry, fall on my knees and praise God. I would definitely not be this strong if it weren't for Him. I wouldn't be this consistant if it weren't for Him. I know that I am on my way to a healthier temple for Him and I won't ever have to look back again. I can't believe how far I have come since I started, and it just makes me want to cry (happy tears of course).

Thank you to everyone who is following my transformation. You help me to be accountable and help to keep me on track because I know that there is someone else out there, besides myself that is watching and rooting for me. I really hope it inspires those of you that need it and I just hope that you know that if I can do this, you can too. Just take one day at a time and make it count! Can you imagine where we will be in 3 more months??? How exciting and such a blessing to think about!

We can do this! We are stars!!!! :D :D :D :D :D

day 84 (day 7 / week 12)

I really flaked on my exercise today. I turned on the 20 minute workout and only did 10 minutes of it because I kept getting distracted with tidying up and putting stuff in the last few boxes. My brain is in moving mode and it wont stop.

I feel that I have done a lot physically today though, pretty much since I woke up (cleaning each room, moving boxes, etc), so I will excuse myself from not doing more, or feeling bad about it. I'm sure I burned more calories cleaning and moving boxes around, than I would have on this video, so it's all good. In fact, I scrubbed this stain on our counter (I used a square cake pan to put soap bottles, sponges and sink stuff in, and it rusted a HUGE stain in the counter! lesson learned lol) for a good 30-40 minutes, so that alone is more than the video...and my arm is sore now! lol

I still can't believe this connection is working... lol

Hope you all have a great day and a great workout! Make today count!

I can do this. I am a star.

Day 1

Yesterday was Jan 1. I decided that if I am going to do this, I have to DO THIS. Everyday.

I am sick. *cough* *sneeze* *cough* *hack*. It's been almost a week, but I am getting better.

Last night (Day 1) while I was in bed, trying to sleep, I kicked myself because I didn't exercise. How can I exercise 365 days of the year, if I skip the 1st day, even though I feel I have a reasonable excuse?

I got out of bed at 10:20pm and did some floor exercises to get my blood moving. Crunches, oblique crunches and some pilates stretches, for almost 10 minutes straight. I was cold (at first) cranky, and just not into it...but I did it.

It's not a lot. It probably wont do much (physically) but it did a lot (and will continue to) mentally. *sneeze*

I pulled the willpower out of the box, tissue in hand. Wow, it's really dusty, but it's in good shape.

I promised myself that I would do some sort of exercise everyday, and I stuck with it. It's so easy to roll over and say, "tomorrow." I have said and done that too many times, so to that I say, now!

*cough*

I can do this. I am a star.
