Today I played the Wii Fit for 82 minutes. I took some pictures, so that you all can see what I see everyday.
One of the first thing that I see is Mii and my Wii Family. My hubby is handsome even in Wii form lol.
After that, I do my body test (today's Wii Fit age was 28) and then head over to the locker room.
I select "Wii Fit Plus Routines," (because I'm too lazy to make my own) and it brings me here:
I select "Combine," all the way at the bottom, because, well, I'm just lazy and it's the easiest route to tell it to do the most, with the least amount of work in getting there. Then I see all of the Wii Fit Plus routines all together:
I select them all (back/shoulders, relax, warm up, tummy, over indulge, leaner Mii, posture, legs, hips/legs, arms, figure, body/mind and hips all not in that order) and then tell it to do three at a time, so for each one of those squares, I get 3 routines (I think). It includes strength training, balance games, body/mind games, yoga and cardio.
Today's picture I selected to show was... um... total brain fart. I can't remember what it's called! It's yoga. I think it's called Sun Salutation (I see the name in the upper left corner of the screen now lol). I tried to break it down into the 3-4 pictures for each move in the total yoga... thingy. Ignore the wording of the first few pictures. I got the beginning moves in the middle of the cycle of this yoga thingy (it's not a position, or move, so what is it called then? segment? lol). It cycles 3 or 4 times I think.
and so forth... see how it repeats?
The yellow thing with the red dot in it is me and my balance. When you are doing any strength or yoga, and even a lot of the games, you have to have proper balance/posture. The yoga poses rate you on your balance and how well you can keep that. I did it, and then took pictures, so I didn't cheat out of this one ;).
So after everything is said and done, and I have completed all of my routine, I see my bank and calories burned:
and then I go back here:
My piggy bank grows as I add Fit minutes (Wii Fit points?) to the bank. I have done a total of 9 hours and 13 minutes worth of Fit Points. My piggy bank has grown into this. it didn't always look that way, although I can't quite remember how it looked to start off with. I just remember it saying that it grows as you feed it. Anyway, that's it!
I have to work tomorrow but I will try to get some pictures of the body test and my Wii Fit age. It fluctuates a lot. I've been lucky to stay in the 20's this week so far lol. Usually I'm in the 40's.
Hope you all have a great Halloween! Yesterday at the counter the check out lady asked the Monkey Boy if he was going to get lots of candy, and his response was, "poo poo, pee pee," lol. It has TOTAL relevance because until now, he has only gotten candy when he uses his little potty chair lol. He is going to be so surprised when we let him have a few pieces tonight, without having to use it (I hope we don't screw up our little system). This is the first Halloween that the Monkey Boy actually understands stuff going on around him so he will have fun AND he picked out his own costume! He is going to be a fireman. I couldn't get him to change his mind either (I certainly did try--we have a perfectly fine monkey costume at home). I'll post pictures when I have them.
Have a good night and stay out of trouble, both physically and mentally (everything in moderation!).

Day 303 (day 2 / week 43)
Today I got on the Wii Fit again (man I love that thing!) and went for 87 Wii Minutes. My arms are sore today from some of the yoga things and strength moves they had me do yesterday.
I wish I could take a picture and show you all of the stuff I am doing. I like the yoga on the Wii balance board, because it really shows me how to do the position correctly, with the correct posture and correct balance. It's different than just doing it along to a video like Slim in 6. I always heard people say yoga was hard, but I never thought that was true...until now. It's hard to relax and keep your balance perfect while holding the tree pose, or half moon.
I decided (just now) that I am going to take a picture of my favorites, and share one with you everyday (on my day's off). Since I finished my workout today, I will start tomorrow.
It's getting cold here in Vegas. When I say cold, I don't mean like Colorado cold, or East Coast cold...I mean for Vegas it's cold. It's been in the 60s. It's also a dry cold and windy (for Vegas). My skin hurts. Isn't it funny how during the summer, keeping the house at a certain temp is nice, but when the weather changes outside (for the colder), that same temperature in the house just feels cold too?
The monkey boy is all of a sudden attempting the potty, so I gotta go!
Make today count! It's almost the end of the year. Get a start on 2010!

Day 302 (day 1 / week 43)
Today was a lazy day. So lazy that it carried over into my blogging lol. I got my exercise in early this morning though. I played the Wii Fit, 69 Wii minutes worth. A combo of yoga, balance, strength training and cardio. I am seeing great results and can't wait to post them on the 1st of the month. I measured my waist again today (it's an option on Wii Fit) and I am losing inches. Almost every few days I see a difference. My Wii Fit age is staying low too. Today it was 24! Woo hoo! Hopefully things don't start to go backwards by the time the 1st comes lol.
I'll get up early to do some more Wii Fit.
Hope you all have a great night. See you in the morning. Gotta start working on this blogging procrastination again. It's stupid to blog right before bed especially when I exercised over 12 hours ago.

Day 301 (day 7 / week 42)
Wow, Day 300. I can't believe that. I have already decided that when Jan 1st rolls around, I am going to rename my blog to, "365 Days of Exercise, and counting." If I can do it for 365 days, why stop? I have already realized that momentum is HUGE. I've got it, so why stop. I've proved to myself that it's not as difficult as it seems or "hard" like my brain wants me to think. It's just a matter of doing it. Nike is right. Just do it.
Today I was supposed to have class. In fact, I was on my way out the door when I grabbed my cell and saw a missed call and voice mail message. It turns out my instructor (sounding horrible) is sick and had to go to Urgent Care. She is sick and has underlying lung problems, so she has to get checked out to make sure that her cold/flu--whatever it is, won't mess with her lungs (definitely in my prayers). She didn't assign any homework, so I guess it's a freebie week for me, since I pounded away all of the strips I had to do last night, and this morning, and I get it now. Who knew? Homework actually works! lol.
So, all dressed up and no where to go... what shall I do? Get back into PJs and play Wii Fit? Sounds like half of a plan Stan. I put on exercise pants instead of PJ pants lol. Anyway I played like 68 Wii Minutes worth. Yoga, balance games, strength training, cardio and another category related to Wii Fit that I can remember. So much fun.
After that, I went to the hospital (not the one that I work at), and was there for most of the day. O'Pa (my hubby's grandfather) is there with some complications not related to the stint he had put in on Monday. He's good, he just has a pesky problem that I shall not mention. It might be too gross for some of you to read. It could be serious, but it has happened in the past, and stopped so everyone (including doctors) are optimistic that this, too, shall pass.
I got home and played another 40 Wii Minutes worth. I heart Wii Fit. It's like playing a video game but fun. I mean like exercising but fun. I mean... it's hard to explain what I mean, ya know what I mean? Anyway I am getting better with my balance. My Wii Fit age this morning was 23. Boohya! *high fives all around.* Now that I am getting better with my balance, I am getting better at yoga. I'm getting better at juggling too lol, and hula hooping. lol. I'm still having some problem with my simple arrhythmic though lol (stupid number 10). It may or may not sound like I'm rambling, huh?
I am...and I'm not ;).
Ok, off to spend some time w/ the hubby and monkey boy. Hope you all had a great Wednesday!
What are you doing to make it count?
I can do this. I am a star.

Day 300 (day 6 / week 42)
Today at work was busy. Busy, busy, busy. Just how busy, you ask? Busy. 16,007 steps busy. That's like almost 8 miles of walking busy.
I got off an hour late too. *grumble*
I didn't get to do any homework today either, because I was so busy, so I get to stay up late tonight, and wake up early tomorrow to get close to 50 strips (EKG strips) analyzed. By 7am (more like 6:30 so I can get dressed and all that fun stuff), because I have class at 8am. It takes me 5 minutes to analyze a typical strip. That's a long time. That sucks but...

Day 299 (day 5 / week 42)
Monday, 10/26/09
I don't remember much about Monday except for a number. The only reason why I remember the number is because I wrote it down. Ok, I lied, I don't remember the number, at all, but I have it written down, so I don't have to remember it. lol.
12,757.
That's how many steps I took at work. It was busy, but not a super-busy day.
Now if I could just find a step calculator to find out exactly how many miles that is. I know it's 5+ miles, but don't know how much the plus is. I'm sure I could find it, if my brain didn't hurt atm.

Day 298 (day 4 / week 42)
Today was a workday. I'm exhausted. I still have a TON of homework to do by Wednesday. That's going to take a miracle, because it's time consuming and I don't have much time.
I did my stairs thing, and wore my pedometer. It said I took 10,475 steps today. Just a little over 5 miles. Sweet.
Off to bed to get up and do it all over again tomorrow. Sorry these are short and boring. What do you expect after 297 days though? lol.
Make it count!

Day 297 (day 3 / week 42)
I don't know how I got so far behind blogging. Friday's post not posting, really threw me off.
Saturday we walked a lot and I carried The Monkey Boy 95% of the time. For some reason he just didn't want to walk himself. My arms were sore this morning from carrying him so much. I am gonna call it a (non)rest day.
Have a good night!

Day 296 (day 2 / week 42)
somewhere a day got lost...
I remember posting this, in fact I posted it on sparkpeople but it just didn't save in blogger(???):
Day 295 (day 1 / week 42)
Today I got up early and did the Wii Fit Plus. I did yoga, strength training, and balance games. I discovered (reading the manual) that there was this place that you can go to on Wii Fit Plus, where they have pre-planned routines for different focal points (over indulgence, balance, back and posture, abs, arms, legs, etc) and in those routines you can combine them. I combined a lot of them and got a 24 Wii minute combo of everything across the board, which was a lot of fun.
I ended it with a few rounds of Kung-Fu, which I think is my favorite. I unlocked "advanced" for more of a challenge, so it's a little longer (I think) and a little harder. It's fun.
I got Pebbles to a vet today (over 2 hours on the road for 5-10 mins with the vet). He said she had a reaction to the sutures, so the protrusion I see is fluid. He said it's not normal, and the fact that she just recently got this isn't that normal either, but it's easy to "fix." He drained it, gave me antibiotics for her for a week, told me to put a warm compress on it twice a day and to come back to have it drained if need be. When we left, it was not that visible anymore. Looking at her now, I see it again. lol. I wish he was closer. Oh well, gotta do what you gotta do. At least I am not being charged, and I get great gas mileage.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers with Pebbles and my class. I feel blessed because I really understand what is going on. I was able to grasp it studying by myself and w/ a few co-workers, so that was an awesome feeling to know that I am right where I am supposed to be (such a blessing). My next class is Wednesday, so I have to study a lot tomorrow (I work Sun, Mon, Tues). I plan on getting on Wii Fit again in the morning and then will study the rest of the day (if needed). Gotta work on posture and balance to decrease my Wii Fit Age--today it said I was 43. The first day I did it, it said I was 27. What the heck happened to that!? lol (my balance isn't that great first thing in the morning).
Have a blessed night.

Day 295 (day 1 / week 42)
I don't quite know how I forgot to blog for Thursday, but I did. I had my class (went great btw) and I did a lot of walking. The class was in a different building than the hospital, so I did a lot of walking between the 2. I also got on the Wii Fit in the morning, not for very long though.
Hope you had a great Thursday!

Day 294 (day 7 / week 41)
Today has been a very exhausting day, which can be easily described with these few pictures:
I spent most of the day playing catch-up. It happened in a 10 minute period when I stopped off to Office Depot before attempting to drop off mail at my mom's house, to pick up some supplies for my class. The only thing taken was my diaper bag, which unfortunately had all of my notes and book for my ECG class. Could have been worse though, so I'm not complaining. No one was hurt, nothing else was taken, my mom and her hubby came and vacuumed my car/cleaned up the glass so I could call the insurance/police (whom did nothing btw...) and work director (since it was her book) AND my window was repaired in my driveway within 2 hours of it happening (great insurance/service--such a blessing).
This evening I managed to track down a copy of my book at Barnes & Noble and have been studying since. I managed to quickfire leg extensions while I was reading. I don't know how many I did (too many things to focus on), but it was a lot. A lot more than I had intended. lol. I even got on the Wii Fit this morning, but only for a few minutes. Nothing really worth mentioning (it's so much fun).
Despite all that happened, the day was really a blessing, because of how well everything flowed. God is awesome.
I plan to take the dog to the vet tomorrow after class. Hopefully the class doesn't last as long as it's scheduled for. Please send prayers and good thoughts my way for my class tomorrow and for Pebbles. I really hope she doesn't need surgery and that I will be caught up to the rest of the class (2 completely separate thoughts lol)!

Day 293 (day 6 / week 41)
Today I am very tired. I am glad it's my last day to work this week. I will hopefully catch up on some reading, to get the details that I missed for my class.
Today I worked and did my stairs. I also wore my pedometer again. It reset itself again, and I even put it on my shoe so that I wouldn't accidentally press the button and reset it. I was worried that putting it on my shoe might make it bounce too much and give it a false reading (2 steps instead of 1) but after testing it out, it worked fine. The number I got was 11910 steps, but it was reset after 10 am, so it's more than that. I don't know what the number was before that but I looked down and saw it was at around 100. Oh well, but I think it's pretty cool at the same time. I think 10K steps is 5 miles, so I am walking more than that when I am working.
Tomorrow I was set to study for my class on Thursday, but now I need to find a vet. My puppy Pebbles, has a hernia. She was spayed a few weeks ago and the incision healed, but the night before last, I noticed that she had a protrusion where her scar is. It doesn't bother her and isn't bleeding, warm, infected or anything. I just want to have someone check it out to be sure. I hope if we have to have it fixed that it isn't expensive. We love Pebbles and just want her to be safe, although it doesn't seem to affect her at all.
Anyway off to bed.
Have a great night!
DLTBBB! (don't let the bed bugs bite, for those that didn't catch it the first time around *wink*)

Day 292 (day 5 / week 41)
Monday, Oct. 19, 2009.
The last few days have been busy to say the least. I worked and am studying to make sure that I am caught up with the rest of the class that I am enrolled in at work to learn how to read ECGs.
I did my stairs, transferred patients and even wore my pedometer. It kept resetting itself, so I just gave up for the day.
When I got home from work, I even got on and played with the Wii Fit for a few minutes.
Hope everyone had a great day and is making it count!

Day 291 (day 4 / week 41)
I am exhausted. I have to get in the shower and get ready for bed in the next 12 minutes.
I brought my pedometer to work today but it reset itself at some point, and it shuts off, and doesn't count the steps, when it's off (I tested it). What I was left with was 976. I'll try again tomorrow.
I also took the stairs like I always do. I am still finding myself winded by the time I get up to the 5th floor, but I am able to make it up much faster than before. I think that's awesome because I am seeing some sort of progress.
Tomorrow is another work day.
See you tomorrow! Hope you had a great day and have a good one tomorrow. Make it count!

Day 290 (day 3 / week 41)
Today I did 63 Wii minutes playing with Wii Fit. I really love this game.
I focused a lot on balance today, and did my personalized routine that I set up which is 13 different yoga positions and a few strength positions. Those took 24 Wii minutes and then I played a bunch of games. In real time I played for like 90 minutes.
They have this obstacle course that just killed my butt. My butt was b.u.r.n.i.n.g.. Man, let me tell you. I also like this rhythm kung fu thing (I think that's what it's called) and the flying one. Great arm workouts.
Anyway off to the M (a family casino?) with the in-laws. More walking!
Have a great day! Make it count!

Day 289 (day 2 / week 41)
Today started off pretty busy. Got up early, went to a meeting at work and went and visited with Papa for a while with the Monkey Boy.
We came home and my hubby got off of work early. We did a lot of window shopping and walking. After dinner we took the Monkey Boy to the park and I ran around chasing him the whole time (he makes me so nervous!).
After we got home, I did some strength training for my arms and shoulders (quickfires)--bicep curls, triceps extensions, shoulder extensions and some leg extensions for my quads. My legs (mainly my butt) are sore today, from The Biggest Loser game yesterday so I wanted to give them a rest so I can play tomorrow morning.
I'm tired... gonna hit the sack. Ooh! before I forget, I entered a contest at Momstheword to win a blog makeover. What a great way to end the year, but with a blog makeover to match my body makeover. Sweet! I probably wont win because there are a TON of people entering, but I figured it was worth the try :). Did I mention yesterday that I bought a pair of jeans that were on clearance for $8 that I should fit into by next month. I can wear them now, but I have a ginormous muffin-top that I am not comfortable with. They are a size 12! Woo hooo!!!!
Hope you all had a great day and did something to make it count. I'm telling you, the best thing I have done lately is try to make each day count. I can look back on the last 289 days and smile because I made each day count, and it shows :). Such a blessing :)

Day 288 (day 1 / week 41)
We got the internet up and running again, but it's going to be a quick post because I have to get up early again for a quick meeting (what a waste of a day off).
Today I played with the Wii again. I played The Biggest Loser (43 minutes including cool down and warm up) and today focused on legs I think. I am doing the 4 week program, and it tells me my goal is to lose 12 lbs, but we will see. I've never been able to lose that much during any given month, but the difference this time is that I am calculating calories based off of METs (burns calories slower) and not off of my HRM (burns them faster). We'll see. It'll be fun to see what the results are.
I also did 10 minutes with Wii Fit Plus, playing a balancing juggling game 2-3 or so times and a basic step class 3 times. Exercising is so much more fun when it is a game. The Biggest Loser Wii Game is not like a game, so the time drags. Wow does it drag.
I guess I flaked out on the 30DS. lol. I'll pick it up again before the year is over :).
Hope you guys had a great night! Have a great day tomorrow. Make it count!

Day 286 (day 6 / week 40)
Today is my last day on this week. It was a busy one. I got home after 9pm because we had an hour long meeting after work. I have to go back to work again on Friday for ANOTHER quick meeting. What a waste of a day off.
Today I did my usual stuff, stairs, not many transfers but it was a busy day. I am curious to see how many miles I walk during my shift.
I forgot my pedometer, which I remembered this morning when I typed Day 285 up, but forgot almost immediately after I left the computer. lol. Typical morning before work.
There were also more sweet lovelies in the meeting that I can't eat. They were trying to force them on me, but I stood my ground. Man it was hard, but much easier than it was a few days ago.
Anyway I'm tired. Off to bed. Hope you guys had a great day!

Day 285 (day 5 / week 40)
Monday, October 12, 2009
It was a workday and I did my typical work routine. Stairs, transfers, etc. I want to be sure to bring my pedometer to work next time so I can see how many steps I have taken throughout the day. I'm curious to see.
I have a lot of sugar temptations at work. Cutting out sugar the first time was easier because I was a SAHM and could control my environment for the most part. This time I can't. It's a lot harder, but I'm sticking to it and holding strong.
Here is a typical work day for me:
Look at how strong I am! I passed all of this up for a plain salad with avocado, chicken and grapes in it (minus the guilt!). Sweet!
See you guys later!
have a good day and make it count!

Day 284 (day 4 / week 40)
Today was a workday, but they sent me home early *grumble* so I am posting early. I even did 56 minutes of exercise, on top of walking the stairs at work and my 8 hour workday.
I feel totally silly and kind of stupid saying this, but yesterday my hubby and I caved and got a Wii Fit (on my Fry's card--told you they were a gateway drug). I am excited about this thing for so many reasons, but the number one reason is my husband! He is exercising! Willingly! Without me having to con him into doing it! This is WONDERFUL because heart disease runs very heavily in his family (both sides) and I worry about him. Although he is tall and lanky, he doesn't exercise to be that way. At all. He eats crap all the time. Big Macs, Whoppers, and he loves his salty snack foods. You name it, he eats it (unless it's sweet). When I called him to tell him they were sending me home early, he said he had been playing with the Wii fit for an hour! Woo hoo!
So I got home, put on my HRM and created a profile. I wish I could show you guys my Mii (it's the "me" version on the Wii). She's a cutie :). I did some strength training, balancing and cardio on it (my legs are still really sore from the 30DS). My HRM said that I did this for 56 minutes, and I did actual stuff (according to the Wii Fit) for 30 minutes. Wii said I burned 147 calories, my HRM said I burned 294 calories. My HRM goes based off of my individual heart rate, and the Wii gets it's numbers based off of METs. Anyway it is lots of fun, and I'm happy that my hubby is exercising.
I am all of a sudden feeling extremely tired. Could be the lights in this kitchen (they do that to me). Hope you all have a good day! See you tomorrow after work!
I can do this. I am a star.

Day 283 (day 3 / week 40)
I woke up this morning REALLY sore. I told myself yesterday that I would do the 30DS regardless of how I felt, and I did. I'm glad I did. I am a lot less sore now, than I was when I woke up, but I knew that would be the case if I did it.
Today was day 2 of the 30 day shred and I did level 2. It's a fun level and I like how I am doing this other schedule of it, so everyday seems different. I think that will keep my interest.
As far as the 30 day in a row thing, I am not going to hold myself to that, because of work and other things that I don't have much control over. I can say now, while it's my day off, that I will do the 30DS when I get off of work, but that's much easier said than done. I am, however, going to do 30 days, and will follow the schedule I posted a few days ago. Thirty days is 30 days, no mater how you look at it. I know that I will be doing something physical on the days that I am not doing the 30 day shred, so it's all good.
Day 2 of no sugar is much easier than day 1. Not having the temptations in my own home makes it easy, but my hubby does have 2 candy bars on the kitchen counter, that I am surprisingly not tempted by (yaay!) and we also have chocolate chips/chocolate milk, but those are for the most part for the monkey boy, so I am not tempted by those either. Consistency is definitely the name of the game when it comes to a hard goal like this (this is how it was for me at the beginning of my exercise resolution as well). Each day becomes easier than the day before, and it's like a snowball effect.
I'm secretly excited because my hubby has been interested and has been looking at a Wii Fit. I don't want to seem too excited to him, because I want him to think he's getting it for himself. If I show too much of an interest, we will have gotten it because of me. Then when one of those discussions comes up when I want something (a haircut, exercise video, weights, whatever it may be) he will use it against me and say "well we just got you a ________". lol. If he gets it for himself, we all know who will use it though (ME!). So, I'm hoping we can get it for Christmas, for a present to the family (the monkey boy will like it too). It's coming up pretty quickly!
We have lots of errands to do today, so we will get in a lot of walking. I am going to return the HRM that we bought from Kohl's. My HRM doesn't count the calories for anything below 80ish (my resting HR is pretty low--48-52). It also jumps around and reads inaccurately (I had my arms in the air and it said my HR was 188--so not true) and I think my timex reads better than this New Balance HRM so I will just use what I have for now. *shrugs*
Ok well off to take a shower.
Have a great day! Make it count!
I can do this. I am a star.

Day 282 (day 2 / week 40)
It's bedtime. I have to make it quick because the hubby is getting frustrated.
I committed to the 30 Day Shred yesterday, and 100 days of no sugar, and didn't do 1 of the 2 today, like I said I would. Can you guess which one it is?
I REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted sugar, but I didn't. It was hard, but didn't have any. I even made my son whole wheat honey chocolate chip pancakes, and made enough for 2, but remembered before I made it, that I committed.
I also committed to the 30DS but I am SO sore today. My legs are kicking. I was out of the house by 6:15 this morning driving to Pahrump to get Pebbles spayed, and got home early in the afternoon. The monkey boy took a nap, and so did I (he was up 3 times last night, because his nose was stuffed and he couldn't breathe well--gotta love Vicks vapor rub!). By the time I woke up the hubby was home and Pebbles needed some TLC... the monkey boy doesn't quite understand that she has bo0-boos and can't play with him--exactly what I was afraid of so I have to keep my eye on the little guy (he also keeps trying to force feed her and doesn't understand or refuses to understand that she just can't eat or doesn't want to eat yet after her surgery).
Anyway, as for exercise today, I didn't do the 30DS (boo on me!) but my hubby helped me take advantage of the time/places we were out. We went to go do some errands and went to the Apple store to trouble shoot my phone. We parked in the parking garage, and instead of taking the elevator, my hubby was fine with us taking the stairs. We also we also walked the long way around to get to the stairs, so I got a good workout going up the steep grade (man parking garages are steep!). We also parked pretty far at our 2nd destination, but we always do that. I have also been carrying 15ish lbs of puppy love around all day, as well as a 26lb monkey boy, who was a little jealous and also wanted to be carried. My arms are sore. Anyway, tomorrow, sore or not, I am going to do the 30DS. I know that once I do it, if I am sore or not, I will feel better. I remember that about this DVD. So I guess tomorrow will be day 2.
Hope you all had a great Friday!
Off to bed.
I can do this. I am a star.

Day 281 (day 1 / week 40)
I just finished level 1 of the 30 Day Shred. I am well on my way to being shredded. (lol I crack myself up).
I am honestly kind of surprised that I dusted off that exercise DVD and actually did it (36 minutes including my own extended cool down). My legs are buzzing right now. I am also kind of surprised that Jillian didn't bug me this go around either. I must be growing as a person or something like that, to not let juvenile things bother me like they did before. OR maybe she's growing as a person, and she just learned not to bug me this go round. This is serious stuff. You can't commit to an exercise plan *cough* DVD and be bugged by your trainer. I say this knowing fully well that it's a DVD, and... and well if you didn't get this whole spew, just forget it. It's one of those days and I'm in one of those moods. I heart Jillian. She is good peepz. I really appreciate how committed she is. She knows this is serious stuff (;)). I don't think she bugs me anymore. Until level 2, when she says something about the bathing suit thing (?). lol
I don't know if I mentioned this or not, but I got a new HRM. It was completely unexpected, and my hubby's idea. We were at Kohl's last weekend with the in-laws and he found a New Balance N2 HRM on clearance for $40. It has all of the features I am looking for (Chronology, continuous HR, calories burn as modifiable workout zones). It also has a lock button, so when I am doing push ups, I don't accidentally stop my HRM from recording. It has a different chest strap, and it feels more comfortable for the most part. Today is the first day taht I have taken it for a test spin. It said that in the 36 minutes that I did the 30DS, lvl 1, I burned 261 calories. I can't seem to find anything in any of my previous blogs telling me how many calories I burned doing this back in June (the last time I did the 30DS).
I was going to wait to start the 30 DS, but I keep thinking about a challenge that was set out on the 30DS group on sparkspeople, to do it...but it was the schedule that got me. This is what my plan is, but I really don't know how it's going to happen on work days. I will probably have to make some adjustments, but am going to really give it a college try to do at least one of the 3 levels on my work days:
OK here your challenge...IF YOU DARE.
OCTOBER
1 - Level 1
2 - Level 2
3 - Level 3
4 - Level 1 & 2 Yikes!!!
5 - Level 2 & then 1
6 - Level 3
7 - Level 2
8 - Level 1
9 - ...boo baby! Level 2 & 3
10 - Level 3 & then 2
11 - Level 2
12 - Level 1
13 - Level 3
14 - Level 1 & 3
15 - Level 2, 3 & then 1
16 - Level 1 & 2
17 - Level 2 & 3
18 - Level 2 & 1
19 - Level 2 & 2 again!
20 - Level 1, 3 & then 1
21 - Level 1, 2 & 3
22 - Level 3, 1 & 1 again
23 - Level 3, 2 & 1
24 - Level 3, 3 & 1
25 - Level 3, 2 & 3 IT'S ALIVE!!!!
26 - Level 1
27 - Level 2
28 - Level 3
29 - Level 2
30 - Level 1
31 - HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!! LEVEL 2, 2, 2
For beginners or for those who think this is a bit much...then follow the 30DS the way it was intended. You do Level 1 for 10 days, move onto Level 2 for 10 days and then do Level 3 for the last 10 days.
JUST SO YOU ALL KNOW...I'LL BE TAKING THE 30DS CHALLENGE ALONG WITH MY CURRENT PROGRAM!!! MU HA HA HA HA...I'm anxious to see how this goes.
I think doing it this way will keep me from getting bored. I want to see if I am up to it, so I am gonna try! Today is my "day 1" so I did level 1. Tomorrow level 2 and so forth.
Speaking of commitments, I made a new/old commitment today, which is killing me, which tells me that I am SOOO needing to do this. A spark-friend, posted a blog about a 100 day challenge to not eat sugar. I decided to join the challenge with her. I already had a cookie today, so tomorrow is my official start day, which will make Jan 18 my last day of the challenge. It's one day AFTER my son's 3rd birthday, and I was bummed to think that I am not going to have cake with him, but there are worse things. He could have a really fat/miserable mommy on his birthday stuffing her face with cake, or a happy/fit/healthy mommy who will be happy to pass up the slice. Right now I feel like the first mommy. I know that will pass, and I'm not miserable, but I miss sugar. Already. (this is how I know I have a problem again lol).
Anyway, it will be interesting to see what this month brings. Halloween too!! Yikes! What a scary (no pun intended--well maybe just a little) time to quit sugar! I can totally do this. Both of the challenges! I'm not trying to convince ya'll that I can, but maybe myself a little. I know I can do all things in Christ who gives me the strength to do it though, so I'm set and confident. I can TOTALLY do this. Both of them.
Bye, bye sugar!
Welcome back Jillian!
lol
Tomorrow I have to take Pebbles to get spayed... 8am, almost 1.5 hours away in Pahrump, NV (where the shelter's headquarters are that we got Pebbles from). Please pray for my son, that he will know enough to leave her alone during this time, so she doesn't feel tempted to play and rip her stitches (and for patience for me, to deal with them both). A few years ago my mom's old bf had a dog that had just gotten spayed, and I guess she went and played after she got home, played too hard and her stitches ripped open, and her insides came out. He shot her there on the spot because there was nothing he could do for her. I know this wont happen to Pebbles, but I just really hope my toddler monkey boy leaves her alone and understands us enough to know this is REALLY important to let her heal.
Hope you guys have a great day! Make it count!

Day 280 (day 7 / week 39)
Today was a quickie day for exercise.
I did about 20 minutes of heavy cleaning (scrubbing/vacuuming furniture and rugs) and I did some strength training.
5 sets of 10 forearm curls (5lb hand weights)
2 sets of 25 bicep curls (5lb hand weights)
We are trying to improve our credit so we can buy a house sometime in the next year, and so we dusted off our old Kohls card (we don't use credit at all because it's a gateway drug for us lol) and bought the spiffy Dyson DC25 Ball Vacuum that I talked about a few weeks ago. Our friend brought over his Dyson Animal, and we ended up buying the same version, just without the extra attachment, so it's not considered "Animal," but everything else is the same though. Fun toy that we will have paid off in a few months. It was 10% off in the store, and we had a 30% coupon that expired today. Now that we have a dog, we need a better vacuum. This one is AWESOME.
Off to bed.
Hope you are having a ball! We sure are ;).

Day 279 (day 6 / week 39)
Today was a tough day. I was on an entirely different pod today, than I was on Sunday and yesterday. I was mad, but got over it (I love the people I work with--great company!) when I realized that my being in a different pod was helping out a newbie. I would feel horrible for a new person to have to experience a busy day, like today, just so I could stay on the same pod as yesterday.
Anyway, I did my stairs thing like usual. In fact I did a Quickfire at the end as I was leaving to go home. I decided to run down the stairs as fast as I could, but doing them like knee ups, like in Jillian Michaels 30 day Shred. It was hard, because surprisingly it takes a lot of coordination, something I don't have much of after my 3rd 12 hour shift in a row lol. I got in some squats today as well, transferring patients. I also got to tell a few more people about Sparkpeople. I love sparkpeople. I am considering getting the cards from their website, because I just love it so much that I want to spread The Spark. :)
I'm exhausted. I am off to bed. I was actually about to hop in bed when I remembered that I didn't post yesterday, or today, so I came back to do this.
I am sure I did something else, but I have a headache from being tired and it hurts a little to think about it. If I remember, I'll update tomorrow. No biggie.
See you in the morning. I love that it's finally fall weather here in Vegas. It means that I can take longer, later walks now that I am not trying to beat triple digit heat.
night-night.

Day 278 (day 5 / week 39)
Monday, October 5, 2009
I worked and did my normal work thing, stairs and all. I did a lot of walking as I worked on the cardiac pod (have to walk CABG patients 3x a day and there are usually quite a few on the floor).
This is a late post and I can't remember much else about yesterday (totally forgot to post!) lol.
Hope you all had a blessed Monday!
Glad ya'll liked the DLTBBB. I have been saying it just like that for years :). lol (I hope my son picks it up).

Day 277 (day 4 / week 39)
I keep thinking today is Monday. I also keep thinking that it's the 3rd. Monday the 3rd. Wow, my brain is waaay off lol.
I did my work thing today. It was extremely busy. I had 5 isolation rooms, and 6 total cares (12 patients total--always). That means nothing to you, but it's a lot of work. Lifting, moving, transferring, turning... Non-stop. I started doing my vitals at 7am and before I knew it, it was noon already and time to do the afternoon vitals. Busy busy day. Good thing I prayed before work for harmony, because despite my very busy/stressful day, I didn't feel stress, or pressure. I kept humming and singing throughout the day, and just did my thing.
I also took the stairs.
Early this morning when I was gathering linen to bring to a patient, I was wondering why the heck my arms were sore. That would be because of yesterday's concentration curls. I forgot about those. Sweet. I forgot how sore muscles feel and how rewarding that feeling is, because I know what it's from. My plan is to do some tomorrow after work (too soon to do them today).
Off to bed. Hope you had a great day and made it count! It's the best thing you can do considering that it's almost the end of the year! Just think, if you do something now, you'll be ahead of yourself for the holidays. They are coming up fast!
Good night :). DLTBBB.

Day 276 (day 3 / week 39)
Today I did some strength training. I always talk about doing more, but I just haven't. Sometimes I get into a funk, and I turn my nose up at things when I haven't done them in a while (I know, totally lame). So today I did:
overhead tricep extension (10 lbs) 3 sets / 15 reps (RPE 3-4)
concentration curls (5lbs) 2 sets / 30 reps (RPE 3)
seated leg extensions (straight leg) 1 set / 30 reps (RPE 4-5)
shoulder extensions (5 lbs) 2 sets / 10 reps (RPE 5)
I listened to my RPEs today (ratings of percieved exertion) and did my set number/rep number based off of that. This probably means nothing to most people, but my brain understands it lol. Listening to my RPEs helps me to know how far to push next time.
I am going to try to do these strength exercises a few more times throughout the next week, and then do more sets and/or reps.
Anyway, I wasn't going to post my weight or picture or measurements this month, but who am I kidding? That would bother me at the end of the year and say, "I'm such a douche for not taking a picture at the beginning of October."
My measurements:
Wt: 188.2 / 187.8 / 215 (+0.40) (total lost 27.2#)
Chest: 36" / 37.25" / 43.75"(-1.25") (total lost -7.75")
Waist: 31.5" / 32.25" / 41.5" (-0.75") (total lost -10")
Hips: 41" / 42" / 47.75" (-1") (total lost -6.75")
Neck: 12" / 12.5" / 14.25" (-0.50") (total lost -2.25")
Under bust: 30.5" / 31" 36.75" (-0.50") (total lost -6.25")
1" below belly button: 37" / 38" / 47.5" (-1") (total lost -10.5")
Above my thigh: 36.75" / 37" / 44" (-0.25") (total lost -7.25")
R Thigh: 19" / 19" / 27" (-0") (total lost -8")
L Thigh: 18.5" / 19" / 27.5" (-0.50") (total lost -8")
R Calf: 13.75" / 14" / 14.5" (-0.25") (total lost -0.70")
L Calf: 14" / 14.25" / 14" (-0.25") (total lost -0")
R upper Arm: 10" / 10.5" / 14" (-0.50") (total lost -4")
L upper Arm: 10.25" / 10.75" / 13.5" (-0.50") (total lost -3.25")
R wrist: 5.50" / 5.50" / 6.25" (-0") (total lost -0.75")
L wrist: 5.75" / 5.75" / 6.25" (-0") (total lost -0.5")
My hair looks poofy. Chalk it up to bed head. I used to look forward to doing the monthly pictures, but now they are just becoming a pain in the butt. My hubby hates taking them (gasp!), and it's hard to keep the Monkey Boy and now Pebbles away so we can do it.
Anyway, in September 2009 I lost 7.25 inches and gained 0.4 lbs. The weight gain doesn't bother me because sometimes when I weigh myself when I am working, I weigh 4-6lbs less than I do on my day's off. Today is a day off. I am not worried and I don't really care. I gotta tell you though, I didn't expect to see any differences so I am glad to see a loss in inches. More than last month! My brain doesn't consider work as exercise, although it is, and you all agree it is, and I know it is... but my brain won't accept it. lol. This is TOTALLY proof, but my brain still feels skeptical. How on earth did I lose all of those inches, if hypothetically speaking, all those days that I was working, I wasn't exercising at the same time. Just because I call it "work" and not "exercise" doesn't mean it isn't exercise. Exercise is work after all, isn't? lol. My brain is shaking it's head "no" in contempt.
Anyway, off to play. I work tomorrow, so it will be another late post.
Have a good Saturday and make it count!

Day 275 (day 2 / week 39)
Today was an alternative kind of day for exercise. I did some heavy cleaning (about 30 minutes) and heavy playing with the dog and monkey boy (also about 30 minutes). Having fun and getting things accomplished can be really great exercise.
I also did 1 set of 30 squats.
As far as the 1st of the month goes, I'll give the details tomorrow, but a sneak peek for now.
7.25.
What does that mean? Not sure, but you can find out tomorrow :).
Have a great night!

Day 274 (day 1 / week 39)
Today I went for a 3.08 mile walk with the Monkey Boy. The weather is really nice here. It was in the 70s when I walked! In the middle of the afternoon! How sweet is that?
So today is the first... I should be attaching measurements and pictures to this blog, but I'm not. I think I am going to wait until Saturday when my hubby can help me. I really can't believe how fast this month has gone by, can you? I am just glad that I have been exercising. If I hadn't I would probably be thinking, "What if?" I am so proud of where I am and that I have stuck to this 274 days in a row, even though the work days really psyche me out (work still doesn't seem like exercise to me, but my HRM proved otherwise).
Anyway, Saturday. Maybe. *wink*. Maybe this month I will not do anything at all with measurements or weight. Maybe I am just afraid that I don't have any good results. I always feel this way though, until I take them, and then it's kind of like a sigh of relief.
Anyway.
Thanks for your responses to my question. I'm sure I'm not the only one out there questioning these things, so I love your responses! I'm sure everyone reading appreciates them too!
See ya'll tomorrow. Hope you are making it count!
