Day 192 (day 3 / week 28)

I procrastinated too long today so I ended up making up my own workout. This morning I woke up late (almost 7 am) and it was already close to 90 degrees out, so there was no chance that I was going to go walk, like I wanted and intended to do. It took me a lot longer to do my made up workout, than it should have--I actually have no idea how long it should have taken, but it seemed like a really long time lol. I ended up combining all of the Quickfire Challenges (QFC) that I can remember, together:

T Stand (from yesterday) (100)
Squats (50) today's QFC
seated leg extensions (100 w/ no weight)--also today's QFC
jumping jacks (100)
Side lunge with knee lift (100)

I keep thinking that I did more, because this took me 84 minutes to do, but nope, I'm just really slow I guess. My HRM says I burned 439 calories. The T Stand and Side Lunge got my HR up into the 130's which I was really surprised with. The side lunges w/ the knee lift really gets my heart rate up there.

I will be surprised if I don't feel this tomorrow. I can already feel my legs kind of wobbly (noodle!) and I can tell that I worked them good.

If I want to go walk this next week I am going to have to make a huge effort, because they are predicting it to be around 110F on most days! Yikes! Not looking forward to that ;).

Hope you all are having a great weekend. Make it count earlier in the day, so that it doesn't loom over you! It's so nice to just get it over with!

Smiles and blessings!

I can do this. I am a star.

day 179 (day 4 / week 26)

Today was a late day for exercise for me, but I did it! I did only around 25 minutes of strength training/circuit training:

I hope you guys had a great weekend!

See you tomorrow! Make it count :)

day 139 (day 6 / week 20)

I am so proud of myself! I woke up at 6am and had eaten some yogurt, drank some water, gotten dressed and was ready to go jogging by 6:30, so that I could make sure that I was home before my hubby left for work at 7:15.

I stretched outside a little bit and left my driveway at 6:46am. I jogged for 1 minute, and walked for 1 minute, keeping my heart rate between 150-160 (walking) and 160-170 (jogging). I stepped foot back into my driveway at 7:16am, so I did 2-15 minute miles!

I tried to be mindful of my form, although I still haven't been able to get my grubby hands on a ChiRunning video yet. I've just seen some snip-its from youtube, but it's hard I think without someone helping me. I'll get it down soon enough. When I felt like I wasn't pain free, I would stop and just walk--luckily enough, I felt good today! There weren't any barking ants following me this time either, or the last time I jogged, but lemme tell ya, they were everywhere the first day though...(lol).

When I got home I stretched really well. I put on my 15 minute stretching video, Slim & Limber (Slim in 6) and it felt GREAT. After I stretched I grabbed my hand weights and did 2 sets of 2o arm curls, 2 set of 20 over head press, and 2 set of 20 one-arm dumbbell rows (back/shoulder and bicep day) with my 5# hand weights.

It feels like a real sense of accomplishment to try to do this. Knowing that someday in the next few months, I will be able to run this whole thing, really motivates me! Heck, 5 months ago I couldn't do a jumping jack or jog in place. Today I jogged for at least 15 minutes--outside, in public, no less!

My MIL really blessed me by buying me these shoes for mother's day also. They have really helped me to step up to the next fitness level. They are actual Nike Running shoes (Nike Run) so they are made for what I'm doing (I would love to go get fitted for some running shoes someday, but we just can't afford it right now), AND they cute on top of it--black and silver with a pink logo :).

Anyway enough of that. Gotta go jump in the shower and start the day!

Hope you all have a great one! Make it count!

Day 32 (day 4 / week 5)

Today I started to do "Burn It Up" but I just felt really achy and exhausted. I decided to to my "Slim in Limber" video to stretch, and then 20 minutes of strength training, with my 5# hand weights. I did, lateral shoulder raises (2/28), tricep extensions (2/28), bicep curls (2/28), push ups (3/15) and for my lats, upright rows--I think that's what it's called--(1/28).

Some of you might wonder "why 2 sets of 28 reps?" I did this because I do 20 reps normally (for muscle endurance), and then I hold the 20th, and then I do 8 reps fast = 28 :). My plan was to do the same with the push ups, but I just cant do that many at one time. I can do 15 at one time, but I'm toasted and burned after that.

I did a lot of lifting boxes again today.

I almost forgot! My measurements! I did them the same way I did a month ago, and I added some, because I...well I'm anal like that (lol). I want to know everywhere that I am losing inches. I wish I would have taken them last month because this month I am disappointed with the numbers, but they are only numbers and will continue to drop, so I wont trip out about it. I don't know if I want to post my pic, but I guess I will. I am not comfortable with it at all, but I guess I'll get over it eventually, because it will only get better...

Feb 2009
(not really any difference)

Everything is measured at the thickest part, unless previously or otherwise noted.

Measurements: (day 30 / day 10) (- "/# lost)

Wt: 213.4 / 215 (-1.6#--probably water weight)
Chest: 43.5" / 43.75" (-.25")
Waist: 39" / 41.5" (-2.5")
Hips: 47.75" / 47.75" (-0")
Neck: 14.25"
Under bust: 36.75"
1" below belly button: 47.5"
below my bottom (above my thigh): 44"
R Thigh: 27"
L Thigh: 27.5"
R Calf: 14.5"
L Calf: 15.5"
R upper Arm: 14"
L upper Arm: 13.5"

so I lost almost 3 inches total. That's great! yaay! I'm not worried about, or thinking about my weight, because I know it means absolutely nothing. I haven't even been doing this for 6 weeks yet, so I am happy to even see any results! :)

Hope everyone has a great superbowl Sunday and workout if you can fit it in :).

I can do this. I am a star missing almost 3" lol.

Day 30 (day 2 / week 5)

When you decided to do something everyday for an entire year, you kind of have a picture in your mind how to do it. I decided to exercise, so I figured that everyday sometime in the morning before Logan woke up, or in the afternoon when Logan is taking his nap, I would put my video in, and exercise that way. Today I didn't. My "plan" sort of fell apart I guess.

I was super cold today and fell asleep on the couch while Logan took his nap. By the time I woke up Jason was home from work and it was pretty late (in my eyes) to do a video.

A few days ago MizFit posted a video in her blog that demonstrated some basic resistance band exercises. The exercises I do with Slim in 6 are very similar, but remembering her blog, inspired me to do resistance band exercises today.

I am trying to build endurance in my muscles so I did a lot of repetitions in each set and rotated everything w/out stopping for a little over 20 minutes. My heart rate elevated and I started to breathe heavily, so I guess that's a good thing. I guess this would be like circuit training (??).

I rotated these exercises:
squats, bicep curls (band), tricep extensions (band), lat pull backs (band), overhead extensions (band) and 2 things I don't know the name for (one for the hamstring and the other for the front part of the deltoid with the band).

Oh! I noticed something different today. It's totally silly, but makes me happy. Before I got fat, I used to love Love LOVE my feet. Totally ridiculous, but they are cute, and my mom always teased me because I wanted to be a "foot model" (I really do have cute toes). Anyway, when I got fat, my feet turned into plump sausages with chubby stumps for toes (a lot probably due to the pregnancy). Since the weather turned, I don't think I have seen my feet without socks on at all (expect in the shower but I'm blind so cant see them anyway). Today I had them off because I spilled some of Logan's juice on my foot (wet socks are a pet peeve of mine) and noticed that my feet have gotten A LOT slimmer. I have ankles again and my toes look longer again--not like little sausages. I will be super excited if I can fit into my cute shoes again :). I'm sure I will be able to by the end of the year. Yaay!

It's funny how we lose weight in the strangest areas--places we would never even think to lose weight! :)

Hope everyone has a blessed weekend and a great weekend workout!

Day 3

Today I still feel a little sick, but I'm getting better. I felt cold before I started exercising, so I didn't really feel like doing anything (boo hoo) and my hubby told me I was procrastinating again. lol.

I didn't follow along with an exercise video, like I did yesterday, but I guess I did a sort of circuit training. I used some of our pillar candles, which maybe weigh 2.5-3lbs each and worked on my biceps, triceps, deltoids (I tried to get all 3 heads) and pectorals in 1 minute intervals to increase my blood flow. It was nice to feel warmer.

After that I did some more floor exercises, focusing on my abs--the upper part and lower part with various leg movements keeping my head and shoulders elevated. I remember this being much easier, but I guess I was carrying a lot less weight, so of course it would be easier! I remember when I used to work out a lot, I would focus on the muscles I was trying to work, and a lot of what I did was controlling movement. I tried to do that again today, and I can already feel it. I really just stretched out my legs. They are sore and tight. I need to work on loosening them up. I used to really like squats and lunges, but now I dread them. I'm a heavy girl.

Afterward, I stretched for a while. I used to stretch a lot, before and after exercising, so I am going to do this again. It felt good and helped me to find my muscles and their movement.

I'm glad I'm doing this. I am excited for this blog, even if no one but me read it, and that I know I will continue on with this. I know I can do this (although it's only day 3 lol).

I am a star.
